Recording Tips:
- Remember to record a minute or so of the room in silence. This makes life easy on your editors and makes you look pro.
- Record a "safety" audio track at a lower level (the X/Y track on the Zoom)
- Always keep fresh batteries in your Zoom AND plug it into wall power. You never know. I get big packs of AA's at Costco and keep a poly bag of them with me.
- The XLR cables that connect the mics to the recorder can go bad if they get tossed around too much. I keep at least one spare in my case. You could probably justify aspare recorder also.
- Be attentive to background noise (now that you'll be using great headphones) and don't be afraid to stop the host/guest if there are sirens or someone stomping upstairs or whatever.
- If you want to look like a real producer then get a stopwatch that doesn't beep and be aware of the running time.
